You can never go back...
Mar. 10th, 2011 10:31 pmI left my old department at a good time.
I was asked to participate in a "Wall of Fame" for people who had taken jobs in other departments. BRC is supposed to be a starting point, which is of course, why I saw a lot of 5 years beverage carts during my time there. So I hopped on the work shuttle to head back to get my picture taken and chat with people.
I never realized how bright the department is. It felt so weird, and walking in, it had an entirely different feel to it. Everyone had been moving around. Apparently, there was a lot of supervisor changes and such. Lot of bull -- they are getting ready to do a second mandatory tour bid.
So basically, hell in a handbasket. But I got to see my old supervisor and talk with people. And find out that the woman who I adored because she was a tough as nail butch woman is finally leaving for a different department. ABOUT TIME.
Also, I love my supervisor. I sent her an email about this project and she sent it to the department head, who sent me an email about it. I've gotten to do program testing and they are having someone shadow me at the end of the month. Because she puts my name in the running for these things. I must be doing something right, praise Hermes, because she seems to appreciate me for the work I do and not the ass I kiss.
Which is what I like in a supervisor: someone who recognises your talents, appreciates a work ethic, and is consistant, honest and fair. And straightforward. Sure, she's a bit tight on rules, but I'm more than okay with obeying rules.
And now it is time to read before sleeping. Goodnight!
